Despite the fact that black sandy beaches could be very hot especially in high temperature days, Perissa holds very cheerful parties at nights. You can also find waterpark for your kids and in some areas nearby there are diving facilities. Countless restaurants, bars, cafés, hotels and shops are along the sea road. There you can also visit St. Irene Church (the patron saint of the island), built by the Venezians when they conquered the island on 1204 A.C. This church is the reason why the island is having its current name. Santorini was originally called Thera (and officially it’s still called this way) but after its conquest, the catholic sailors were starting calling it as Santorini (deriving from Santa and Irini). The church is open every day, from 8 AM to 8 PM.

Santorini, Greece | Kamari Beach
Near Perissa lies black pebbly beach called Kamari, separated by Mesa Vouno, a giant rock rising out of Aegean Sea. On top of Mesa Vouno there is AncientBest Places To Go in Athens, Greece. Read more ... » Thira where you can see sanctuaries, agora, a temple, and theatre. The village of Kamari was destroyed back in 1956 by an earthquake. After some time, the village was rebuilt as a tourist destination. The beach is very large, packed with numerous hotels, shops, and restaurants nearby and alongside with Perissa, is the most organised in the island. Tip: Because black sandy beach can be harmful to your feet, wear flip-flops and have your skin well-protected by the sunscreen!
Another famous beach is Kokkini Beach, which in Greek language means Red Beach. The name has its reason – the beach is indeed red sandy and right in front of a big red volcanic rock. Red beach can also get crowded because it’s relatively small. It is lacking of tourist services such as bars and restaurants, but u can find umbrellas and sunbeds. Whether to sunbathe or to swim, it is pretty worth it. Red beach can be easily accessed through boat, but it is also possible for you to take walk all the way from the hill to the bottom. As one of the best Santorini beaches, Red beach is sometimes also called Akrotiri beach, due to its location near ancient site of Akrotiri. Akrotiri, means “Cape” in Greek, was found in the mid-20th century and is one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean Sea. Tip: Keep in mind to always wear your flip-flops to protect your feet. Also, the red sand could leave some red spots to your stuff, but don’t let that influence you that much
Beaches in Santorini are somehow have different sand colors. After reviewing the black and red sandy beach, now we go to White Beach! The term “white beach” is merely because of its white pebbles and cobbles. White beach can be reached by boat and it’s right next to the red beach. So u can go there using the same boat.
