The cave is B-shaped with two chambers of halls separated with land or an island in the center. The ceiling of one of these halls is what fascinates visitors as the sunlight comes in through the hole of the cavern roof. Imagine what it would look like as the clear blue waters meet the sunlight coming in from the hole of the cave. When it does, you’ll be among all visitors who will be amazed! The tour is taken by boat. When you finally see the sunlight meets the water, it somehow creates a beautiful image as if the boat is flying across the water in the air!

The caves first discovered around 1951 by Ioannis petrocheilos. However it was not built until 1963 when the cave was exposed to the general public. Since then it became one of primary destinations in Kefalonia. You will see stalagmites and stalactites inside the cave, which were created for more than millions of years. The tour is taken by rowing boat and you will be accompanied by a guide. One rowing boat takes a group of people through the cave. The guide will use a rope to haul the boat across the lake.
