The city is located on the south bank of the Ottawa River in the eastern portion of Southern Ontario. The city is beautiful and has many things to offer to its visitors. Here is the list of things to do in Ottawa.
1. Parliament Hill
One of the best landmarks in Canada, set on a dramatic hill overlooking the Ottawa River. Parliament Hill is here to teach its visitors all about the Canadian government. The building is Gothic-styled and was burned in a tragic fire in 1916 (except for the library). The library was saved by an employess who was quickly thinking to close library’s massive steel doors. The grounds of Parliament Hill are full with sculptures of important Canadians. Hundreds of grotesques, gargoyles, reliefs and bosses are carved into the building stonework. Four of them are looking out from high on each corner of the Peace Tower. In every 1st of July, many people will gather for amazong entertainment and massive fireworks finale. Not only that, in December the Hill is one of the 60 premier sites for thousands of beautiful Christmas lights. Tens of thousands of bulbs are gonna light this historic building!
2. National Gallery of Canada
National Gallery of Canada is one of the oldest and well-respected art institutions in Canada. In front of the building, there is a huge life-like spider named Maman.

Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica is Ottawa’s largest and oldest standing church, as well as a Natural Historic Site. The architecture and ornamentation of the Cathedral is Gothic-styled. It serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Ottawa.
5. Fairmount Chateau Laurier
Fairmont Chateau Laurier is Ottawa’s most famous hotel, appreciated by its elegance and beauty. The hotel structure is like a castle, and has been one of the top destinations you should see when you are in Ottawa. This building also has been one of the most favorited by photographers, especially at night.
6. ByWard Market
Take a walk in this original market in Ottawa dating back to the 19th century. You can browse may kid of things from both indoor and outdoor vendors.

8. Rideau Canal
Take a tour to this beautiful historic canal that runs from Kingston to Ottawa, connecting beautiful rivers and lakes through a series of 45 locks. Rideau Canal is almost 8km long. In the background you can see Chateau Laurier. The Rideau Canal was originally opened in 1832, consisting of a series of lakes and rivers connected by canals. The waterway is usually filled with boats from spring through fall. From May to October, the Canal is open to sightseeing cruises, pleasure craft, canoes, kayaks, paddleboats.
