Take a visit to Holyrood Palace, an official residence of the monarch in Scotland. This palace is open for public throughout the year except for when members of the Royal Family are in residence. After you visit the Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament you can enjoy the beautiful scenery from up there. You get a panoramic view of Edinburgh’s greatest sites like the castle and Carlton’s Hill. And then u can run down the hill and lay on the grass, relaxing or having a picnic there.

Living in Edinburgh provides you with the opportunity to plan day trips to the famous Highlands of northern Scotland. Almost every hotel will provide you with the information. In my opinion it’s a must do trip. The beauty of the area is unique. The lochs (lakes) and the hills are succeeding one another. And of course you will have the chance to take a cruise and search for the famous Nessie, notoriously inhabiting Loch Ness. The people are very friendly around the area and you will certainly have the chance to meet Scottish men wearing the traditional kilt in their everyday life.
Another day trip that you can take is to visit the nearby city of Glasgow. There is a bus connecting the 2 biggest Scottish cities every 1 hour.
